Clean Drain Dry Annual Report
White Bear Lake, MN – Wildlife Forever released its 2024 Clean Drain Dry Initiative annual accomplishment report at the 90th North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference held in Louisville, Kentucky March 10-14. Through partnerships with the outdoor industry, community organizations and state and federal agencies, on-the-ground efforts delivered critical invasive species prevention tools and community-focused public service campaigns.
“Wildlife Forever and its partner coalition continue to be the national leader in defending America’s public lands and waters from destructive invasion of invasive species. Building a national network of tools at boat ramps and accesses allow boaters and sportsmen to clean boats and equipment to reduce the threat of aquatic invasive species,” said Wildlife Forever President and CEO Pat Conzemius.
Invasive species are a leading threat to the $206 billion outdoor industry. When established, they can dramatically impact the ecosystem of a waterbody. The 2024 report showcases national efforts to coordinate communications, public awareness and on-the-ground prevention strategies that empower the public and prevent spread.
“Education and awareness are the top priority, so the public knows what to do to prevent invasive species spread within our water bodies,” said Wildlife Forever Invasive Species Program Manager Zach Burnside, “coupled with investments in tools and infrastructure that allow users to follow through with Clean Drain Dry best practices.”
Since 2006, the Clean Drain Dry Initiative has reached more than 2.4 billion impressions and has invested more than $15 million to coordinate the national campaign and educate outdoor recreational users on how to prevent the spread of invasive species. Strategic communications, marketing, outreach and educational services provide access to consistent messaging and tailored aquatic invasive species prevention planning.
